Dixie Chicks

Haha!

I just pictured a giant Evian bottle... Kinda like the Eiffel Tower... Set up to store all the water..

OK... I know it is serious, it was just a super funny image.

As to wonky weather... Yep... I am a bit at te "holding my breath" point up here..... Super giant dfference if we are just a touch above freezing and lots of precipitation, or right at, or below freezing.... And a great big amount of precipitation.

I LOVED this last winter of no plowing... But it has made the state a tinderbox, and also made the wells a bit slow... The winter before was right at freezing so the craziest amount of ice I have ever seen, and just enough snow that the plow truck was all beat to pieces! But the wonter before that, SERIOUSLY, it gave be PTSD! Having to plow twice a day, for two to fours hours each... Was more than a bit much.... And the perpetual panic that if I slept too long that the snow would build up, I wouldn't be able to plow it, and then I would have to call in the front end loaders for bookoo bucks! Then also the trying to get schooling into the kids, when they had to shovel for a minimum of three hours every sinle day

NIGHTMARE

I really don't want a repeat of that super snow year...........

So anyway.... It will be interesting whatever it is that we get.

too bad there isnt a depth meter you could set out to send off an alarm every x amount of inches...

aww look at them!dB I love the ccl!

Sorry we've been busy with the antique machinery show the past couple days and will be all weekend.

Thanks! No worries. I was joking about being the only one posting.....LOL! I went to a machinery show last weekend. Went with DIL, DS, and DD. DIL and DS had just got back from Gatlinburg & didn't want to get out in the hot sun and walk.

I should have left them at home and just taken DD. Next year I will. Lots of John Deere stuff!! DH should've taken his 1941 Ford N tractor. Maybe next year. There was only one there even though I see them quite frequently.

@Mt farmgirl , Thanks and Welcome to our thread!!

@hennible , It's going. Have a lot of naysayers. LOL! They come over & ask DH where we are & he tells them we are out back digging a pond. They laugh & tell us to rent a bobcat. Still may do that. It's not over! My brother warned my husband that he should go check it out because brother said it resembles a grave and that DH should be careful

Got home late last night so chickens didn't get fed or watered properly. Gotta get that done before work this morning. Have a great day!

Saw the El Nino news on the Evening News.  Said it's the "Godzilla" of El Ninos.   Also said that it's not unusual to have severe flooding after severe droughts.  (Sorry CA!)

Unfortunately there is not going to be enough rain to actually end the drought, I think.

I dunno if it is just BYC or if it is Windows 10, but the text "size" ranges from large, to big, to huge, the "Godzilla"....Godzilla must be making a comeback.

I have a situation I'd like opinions about. We found an abandoned girl kitten. Cute as a button, although I am not a cat person. DH is more so NOT a cat person. Brought it home with intent to rehome it. Posted flyers "Free Kitten" etc. If no one takes this kitten, it will become a barn cat. How many of you have or had barn cats? I am worried about the urine smell & fecal matter clean up.
I assume there is no chicken proof litter box which would mean my chickens would eat the litter

, so that's not an option. Just trying to make provisions in case it's ours to keep. In the meantime:

FREE TO A GOOD HOME!!!! Beautiful bluish gray kitten.

Get it nutered asap.... find the local feral cat society... they will get a voucher for you and give you a choice of a couple of vets who do spay and neuter for cost. I took in a momma cat years ago... when she had her kittens I took all six of them in when the kittens were ready to neuter... cost me a whopping sixty bucks for the lot. Thats here in san diego.

Barn cats dont live long though here. But if you put out a litter box and get them used to using it... clean up is pretty simple...

They do in fact take care of mousies. But usually a kitten needs to be trained by momma cat... so put out food as well. You can put the cat box someplace the chickens cant get to.

Find a home for it... My cat desires ended about three years ago... Pm me for the story.
