Need to give the Anacona Ducks a shot of fresh Blood. Would a couple of Pekin Ducks and Cayuga Ducks work? The result I would be hoping for would be for Meat Ducks for next Spring. If I get the ducks now they will be maturing and come Spring these new Pekin and Cayuga will mix well with the Anacona Ducks creating wonderful eggs that will hatch Spring and summer for meat birds. Am I making sense. These would not be for sale. They would be for our own consumption.

Coop done kinda, close enough for now, run up, just have to finish putting the netting on top of the run, not losing another to a hawk. Thought I was going to get them in today, but rain off and on. I want to weigh them before I put them in, thinking of putting em in a paper bag, or maybe a sock over there head, don't know something to keep them still. What's the easiest way to weigh a live chicken?

Had some fresh from the garden roasted beets today, never roasted them before, really super good and sweet, almost to sweet for me so I drizzled some balsamic over the rest, mmm. Wife made a couple apple pies, brought home a few bushels from her dads northern spy and yellow delicious. Good apple year here, the branches were about breaking, they picked many bushels and the trees are still loaded.

Unless you have a hanging scale, no idea... can't get a Call duck to sit still on a scale either... :/

Weight I got for my drake was .5 to 30 lbs, lol...

What about a fish scale...
Tie the feet up and hang the bird from the scale like you do with fish, sort of...
400

Holy digital even, not like what I had as a kid. Lol

Wowsers!

I was thinking exactly what Hen just showed you!

So, Hen... You seeing the lights? Last night and tonight? Some nice ones out... Making it all of the way down to S. Dakota.

Me though RAINY.. :(

How about a Rubbermaid tub on a scale?

Mmm, beets. They go well with a bit of honey, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, Chevre cheese and nuts. Maybe some carrots and onion too. Fry the onions in olive oil on low heat, turn up the heat, toss the rest of the stuff in there and toss it around, then bake in the oven until the beets are cooked. Or put them in the grill, that works too.
