As to scovies... They are just fine, let them brood. It will take a week to build up enough eggs, and then FIVE FRIGGING WEEKS TO INCUBATE, so, by the time they hatch temps shouldn't be too bad.

Yeah the 12th chick was outside but only for an hour or so, still insanely lucky it was -6C.

I was too slow. Grabbed .308 first, couldn't find ammo... broke kids piggy bank and cut my foot rummaging for where the ammo was this deer season. Grabbed 12 gauge from behind door to cellar, panicking all I saw at first was bird shot, then finally slugs. It was gone when I got back out. Birds were safe. It pulled the fence up out of the ground.
I thought I was prepared, if we were being robbed, would've been raped and murdered...Lol! Dry run I guess.

Darn, never gave it a thought, muzzle loader is by back door behind coats, loaded, primer on top of fridge, would have took two seconds to be back out and had piggy dinner... I got to get my act together!!
