What about building.
Anyone built their own?
I have seen where some have built their own and are selling them. If they built them right and they work well, why are they selling them? I want a digital thermometer heat setter. I Have to build bc of costs.
Anyone with experience?

I really wished I built my own rather than bought the hova-bator 1588 with turner and shipping $200 is a awful lot for what it's made out of.
Have you seen the incubatorwarehouse incukits? They have one for cabinets and one for desktops.

Hi Beer Can, how is New York?
I really can not keep wasting expensive eggs in these cheaply made incubators. The need for a Built in digital thermometer that really works is number one on my list. Looking at redoing an old refrigerator or cabinet. The Blue Ridge Parkway is beautiful. The tourist were everywhere this weekend. We have learned to stay in and not to go Out when the tourist are crawling around everywhere. But is sure is beautiful. I have been looking onto turning an old fooseball table into growing mushrooms for my French-Italian cooking.

Cleaning them out inbetween uses helps.
That is nice you have hatched so many.
I am not new to hatching. Been hatching over half a century. Just not happy with what I have
Had for the past 5 years.Looking for tried and true plans with a digital thermostat. Bought 4 about the same time because my other I sold in a move. The four I got cost somewheres around 125 + times four of them and they have been problematic.
Since I am retired and spending more time on my hobby I actually have less Time to spend on hobby. Will Look elsewheres but thanks

There is no "in between" for me. I run my incubator with staggered hatches February through the end of June. I've only been hatching for 18 years, and in varying numbers. Last year hatching became more important as I am developing my own line of turkeys.

I am currently running a GQF 1402 cabinet, an Ova Easy 380 cabinet (overflow), a cooler for hatching, and a Brinsea Eco 20 for tiny hatches. I built a digital humidity and temp controlled cabinet last year and it works great, but it uses the tabletop incubator turners and I don't like those so it's for sale. It also doesn't stack on the 1402 (I bought the 1402 later) so if I don't sell it, I will resize it, but I built it with five wire bottom pull out trays and a lot of nice features so that it would be a shame to chop it down.

Glad everything went alright Deb. Yesterday DD, DS, DIL, & I walked a 5k for hunger awareness. We all had fun:D. Eye opening though. We seen several sites where homeless people sleep. Seen a whole family that was homeless:(. I start my new job June 14th & we work to place homeless people in homes, and to help get them back on their feet. I'm excited about my new job. Today is the big day I give my resignation letter to the bank.

Beercan, score here is 2 raccoons, 1 opossum. Last year was not much different as well as activity around our neighborhood, but for some reason, this year the predators are relentless. Too bad for them, I am too!

Dgibson0604, welcome to our thread:D. I have to agree with the decision to cull. The earlier you do that, the easier.

:hugs. I'm sorry. At least you didn't have to cull it. That's never easy.

How long have you had chickens? What breeds and how many?

We are up to about 114 different breeds. Next year, I plan on breeding Speckled Sussex, black jersey Giants, crested cream Legbar, French marans, olive Eggers. & White leghorn.
