Dixie Chicks

loving it, Beer can.

I emptied a large dog (chicken) water dish in my back yard prior to letting chickens out to range this am. There was sediment on the bottom of the bowl...and in that sediment were two perfect and troubling animal tracks! Either a raccoon washed its hands there, or an opossum took a cooling dip. I did not see hind feet tracks....but suspect another raccoon....I have trapped
back there now. Time to move the have-a-heart trap again.

P.S. Finally learned how to get pics from my Ipad to here. My broodie hatched and raised four chicks from a friends fertile chicken eggs. She has a mixed flock with pure bred Americauna roo, barred rock hens, EEs and pure Americauna hens. I don't know what else. I got one hen from the hatch below:

Does she look basic EE?

A hatchmate appears to have no tail, never has, and I wonder if it is also rumpless. I have not handled it. The other living rooster other than tailless looks like a normal barnyard mix:

rumplessness occures occasionally in all breeds.

Thanks, Deb. I am wondering if there were any cream legbars or the stock to produce them in her flock. I did notice that the chicks that turned out to be males were hatched with a white spot on a basically black chicks heads.

That's from the barred rock hens... barred hens and solid rooster the male chicks will have headspots... don't see any crests to indicate Legbars...

@Beer can DD used to go to local pediatric dentist. Same one son went to til he was 14. I stopped taking her there because one of the receptionists was so snotty. I pay lots of money for insurance, then lots of money for co payments. Not to be treated disrespectful. I called to schedule her appointment & Amy told me they were scheduling 5 months out! Like I know my schedule or hers from school 5 months in advance. So, I scheduled, but asked her to call me if they had any cancellations. She said "Cancelations are reserved for people with emergencies! Not just cleaning!" So, I told her to add me to the cancellation list as we would not be going back there. DD goes to my dentist now. :D

Looks like I'm back on the prowl for some predators. We boarded up parts of the barn that were showing possible access points for predators. Last night I forgot our bucket of eggs in the open side of the lean-to. This morning all the eggs were GONE! Just a few shells left. Foot prints of what looks like raccoons everywhere. I've got the traps set. I'll be up at 4am to check.

I ended up with a pet duck, lol
More of a pet than the rest. Out of three broody rouen ducks only one egg hatched. So my oldest name 'her' Phoney. Though you guys my like the pics.
