DIY CABINET COOLER INCUBATOR How we did it and TEST RUN Ready Set GO!

Quote: the wafer is your thermostat and it turns the lights on and off to regulate the heat.

its basically a controlled switch (controlled by temps) sending electric to your lights turning them on and off, another words when temps are too low it will send electric to lights to heat and shut off electric when it hits the set temperature, and temp is set with that wafer control arm (looks like a alan wrench, L shape) trying to put into terms and things you understand.

That's exactly what I figured it did. So I just adjust the little turner knob to set the temp?

you betcha

this adjusts it....

I will find something to explain how a a wafer actually works in a minute

what do I do with the tiny wing nut? Does it go on the outside part to tighten up once I have it adjusted properly?

Wafer thermostat
Patented in 1925

The wafer thermostat consists of a pancake-like wafer that is filled with a gas (ether) that is very sensitive to temperature. That means it will expand and contract a lot as the temperature changes. This expansion or contraction causes the thickness of the wafer to change and the change causes the electrical connection to open or close or mechanically activate a microswitch, if you turn the L you can actually hear the clicking when it gets to your current temp but listen carefully its not a loud click.

Wafer Thermostat is Adjustable between 75 and 120 degrees F. depending on room temperature. 110 Volt AC Power ONLY

I didn't put mine on either. I adjusted the thermostat and I did hear the click. I will let it run like that til tomorrow and then adjust as needed.

I completed the cooler bator tonight.

I want to thank you so much for doing this thread. I would have never done this if it weren't for you

The last thing I need to do, but will do tomorrow is put in my hardware cloth shelves, 4 of them.

Here are some pics of the completed cooler bator(well minus the shelves)
