DIY CABINET COOLER INCUBATOR How we did it and TEST RUN Ready Set GO!

The fan should definitely be blowing on the heat source.

You may need another fan at the other end

Ok, i moved the light so that the fan blows across it. Got it up and running. Fingers crossed!

I have been following this thread from the start and I am trying to get my courage up to build my own incubator. I've been mulling around the idea of using a wine fridge. What do you think? There are some that hold over 30 bottles of wine and look plenty roomy for racks and all the necessary parts. I am cruising CL to see what is available in my area and I can find several for under $100. I like that they have a full front glass door already in place...

Anyone have any thoughts about starting with one of those?

The exhausted Chinese rickshaw guy delivered my digital thermostat!

Its programming was very confusing, but once I finally figured out what the poorly translated directions were trying to say it worked great!

It is sooooo much better than the little giant thermostat I canabalized earlier.

I used one of these ST-1000 controllers to replace the wafer switch on my Hovabator.

I still don't understand why my two digital thermometers are not reading the same.
Weird.

Most thermometers are not calibrated. Fever thermometers $2.97 ARE calibrated and you can get a little closer guess with one of them.

I just stick it in the vent hole (not too close to the heat source) and leave it for a couple of minutes before punching the button.
Once you get the ST-1000 controller calibrated and burn in for about 3 days it should hold pretty steady.
