This is what I have been searching for! A way to diy this!! Now I just need to try to figure out how you did it lol.
These are the item I purchased
Controller:

Motor:
Greartisan DC 12V 45RPM Turbo Worm Geared Motor High Torque Turbine Worm Gear Box Reduction Motor 6mm Shaft JSX180-370

----------------------------------------
The motor can lift about 4lbs. My door is is made of light weight cedar. About 3.5lbs.
You will need a pully that fits the 6mm shaft. I have skills with hardwood so I fabricated one.
Wiring the controller is documented and very easy to configure. It has options for manual up n down buttons and stop limits. I will provide some photos to demonstrate.
The door:
It sits in two U channels mounted to the doors opening. The dowel rod configuration are to limit the amount of contact the door has with the channel.
Limit switches:
Configure for Normal Open. Mount on the u channel. The lower limit sw goes at the top of the opening and the upper limit switch goes at the to of the u channel.
Camshaft to trip switch:
Mounted on the door, at the top and positioned so it contacts the switch at the right time. Here it is tripping the lower limit switch.
The channel continues to the top of the roof. There the upper switch is mounted.
Some detail:
Removed is the top of the channel so you can see how the door glides up and down.
The line:
I used whatever I had on hand. This is a picture of how I connected it to the door.
Feel free to post any questions you may have.
