DIY Feeder Successful !!!!

I made one similar to your PVC ones but it is made out of a down spout. It is about 4 fett tall and empties into a bowl. I'll try to get a pic later. I made it for my ducks when we went on vacation.

Those are awesome!.. no more waste!

speckledhen - I love the idea of this and actually would like to use this in the coops we'll create when our new barn is finished. Question though, unless I'm not understanding how it works, how does the food continue to fill all the way across the pipe? All I can picture is it just refilling at far end (in the pic) by the vertical pipe. Seems like you'd have to fill across the pipe and it would negate the need for the vertical one. Is it maybe angled downward to let gravity fill the end?

Just curious how you guys fill these things up. I've seen the ones with a Y base, one of my ex's had giant ones for deer feeders (they hung on a rope from a tree, and the Y part was just over knee high)

I have the round galvanized feeder from TSC, and it's OK, but we haven't had it very long and I think it's gonna fall apart soon

so I'm always looking for a replacement.
If I keep my feed inside my house, in a 40+lb pet food tote . . . . how am I gonna get it out to the back of the back yard to fill up that pipe?? Right now I bring the "bucket" feeder in the house and just scoop directly into it. Filling those pipes doesn't seem very practical to me, but it seems like a good food-despensing design especially for a small flock. Guess it'll give me something to think on.
