DIY Kitten stuff??

Oh and another one I just remembered. When she was younger before she got old and lazy I would take a hair tie and wrap it around the arm of the chair until it was tight and she would go flipping nuts over that hair ties. I guess they try to get it off or something. But I told a couple other people about it and the cat said the same thing

Oh, believe me, my cats know they aren't supposed to scratch the furniture. One will pause mid-scratch to make sure I notice her, staring me down. If I don't look, she will try to scratch again (to get my attention), if I look, she runs away. Running from the spray bottle is a great game to them. They mock me I swear. Just like my dog who will get in the front seat of the car when I get out to go in the store, and then if she sees me coming across the parking lot she will hop in the back again. She knows she isn't supposed to be in front, but does it anyway if she thinks I won't catch her. These pets of ours are not dumb ;)

That must be nice. When my cat would scratch the side of my furniture and I’d look at her she just give me the middle finger with her eyes as she continued to scratch until I had to make her stop. That’s why the cardboard is there. That and I’m sure she does plenty of it when I’m not home

Somehow my post ended up in Quote. My cat doesn’t play games. When she scratching the furniture and I look at her she gives me the middle finger with her eyes as she continues to scratch until I make her stop. But the water bottle did stop her from jumping on the counters. That she’s old

Can't say it better than this ;) We have 4 cats that live inside, and we have bought them dozens of toys. And they were all completely ignored. Our cats prefer to play with old milk jug lids and green beans
My cat to play with water bottle lids or just about anything she can find hidden under the couch. She used to play with green beans like you said But stopped that after she started playing with it and jalapeño. That wasn’t a pleasant and for her. I couldn’t help but to laugh a little and then I gave her just a small bit of milk to help

You can make your own cat scratcher out of corrugated cardboard and glue it together in strips. Some cats like to scratch at an angle while others like to scratch up or down...ours likes up and she likes to scratch the corners of our couch. They sell couch corner protecting scratchers but theyre a little pricey. You can also make scratchers out of rope. Or you can buy nail clips that are plastic coverings for their claws. I havent tried them myself but jackson galaxy from animal planet highly recommends them as an alternative for people considering declawing

Cats like to climb, especially when young. You can attach shelves to the wall for them to make a mini jungle gym. It doesn't need to be expensive, scrap wood will do. Make steps up and then a long plank to run along. Boxes and paper grocery bags, as others have said, are the best loved "toys". Oh, and put away breakable knick knacks for the time being. Another favorite activity, knocking stuff on to the floor. Just leave a pen on a table, lol.

Yup... read something one that said “ if the world were flat cats would have knocked everything off it by now”:lau. So true

And never forget the power of a cardboard fort. They love to climb around in them and if you’re a big kid at heart the really fun to make. All she need is leftover cardboard boxes

Get a spool of sisal rope......you can wrap anything for scratching....we recently covered a traffic cone, our cats love it. I've also wrapped the posts on a carpeted cat tree where the cats had shredded the carpet with scratching. Paper sacks, boxes, wadded up balls of paper.....all favorite toys. Chicken feathers, string and a dowel....teaser stick. Grow your own catnip.
