You should go ahead and start ff. I only looked into it more after I saw you mention it previously. I wasn't sure what exactly it was all about. I LOVE it. So much healthier and cheaper. Would love to hear your experiences with it

Is fermented feed the same as sprouting the feed?

I was talking to a guy who buys organic grain and sprouts it (for 2-3 days?) before feeding to his chickens. It doesn't sprout as much as you would sprout for micro-greens. I plan on talking with him more on how he raises chickens. He has a very nice place and his chickens get wander over several acres.

No, fermenting is different. I also sprout. Take a look at the links below...its a quick overview of lacto-fermenting feed.

Where do you get the seeds?

I have a couple of feed mills that are not too far away that sell conventional (gmo), non-gmo, or organic for feed. I get mine there, but not everyone has an old fashioned feed mill around!

Some folks purchase them from bulk bins at health food type stores and sometimes they will order a 50 lb bag for you for a better price. Others get them by ordering online. Some farm stores carry them too.

I avoid gmo so I'm really blessed to have a mill so close.

That's what we use, well kinda sorta. We just cut a bit from the base so its a lot more solid. Because its not very strong plastic.
