DIY Thread - Let's see your "Inventions".

Aart - I copied this to the IN thread as someone just asked yesterday if they could set their waterer like that into one of the dog bowls. Very timely post. Thanks!

I looked at the coop page description and do have a question. Did you feel that it was absolutely necessary to cut the hole in the blue bowl itself? When I turned mine upside down, it seemed to set in there nicely right on top of it. (And, of course, my lazy self wants to do the least work possible and possibly save the blue bowl.)

(Not sure why I want to save it, though, as I don't like using plastic to serve food and water from in the first place

I absolutely do think it's necessary, the heater tabs won't seat back into the bowl slots if you don't and it won't sit flat and stable but will really wobble-especially with a gallon or two of water on sitting on it. I wanted it to be rock solid and did hesitate to cut the bowl, but you can get replacements bowls(so says the manufacturers website but I haven't looked for them yet).

Got it.

I really didn't play around with it much when I sat it on there to see if it would seat well or not. Just sat it on and took the photo and went about my business doing something else.

hi! anyone have a idea that will keep the chickens from perching on top of waterer when not hanging it?? I have to put mine on a heated base for now. thanks!!

I get the funnel part, but the how to keep it there is where I am stuck. tried rope with knot above washer at top of funnel, couldn't get that untied too well with numb fingers any other ideas??wonder if threaded hook will do it? big one like u use to hang chain on to hang the feeders and such, hmmmm.

I get the funnel part, but the how to keep it there. Gravity is all I've ever used. If the funnel is big enough, it should stay in place by itself
