He's almost done with the 2nd brooder. Did a wire bottom on this one. Trays that slide out to clean. 2 feeders that slide up to fill (i had to fight them to hook feed troughs in before lol these will slide up with one hand allowing me a free hand to shoo chicks back with the other hand heh.
He put this one one wheels too. I'm excited already :)

Deb, do you use PTFE tape when you used the PVC fittings? I haven't had any trouble. Haven't posted pictures yet because I bought the wrong fitting at Home desperate so DH has gone back for another <3

I use Red Hot Blue Glue good for pressure or non pressure applications.

Oh you mean the problem with the female fittings? No I didnt.... but the leakage came around where the pvc female was attached. I couldnt get the male to seat the washer deep enough. I am not into gorilla force for tightening them.

I made a whole bulkhead of valves specifically for water distribution on my property two for input sources and four for out put. The females leaked. To be honest I was so frustrated I didnt work on it further.

You see I have two water outputs on my property..... One is household pressure delivered from the well.... The second is a water tank which gravity feeds the water. The tank is the best choice because it doesn't stress the well Matter of fact I could shut the power off for a good two weeks to serve water with the well now. But there are times when I want water to come out with force from those faucets.... So I wanted to be able to use two separate water sources.

So for now its the house....

a llittle silicone around them works well should they leak at the thread.

ahh, as I was using nipples it isn't pressurised, well ok, maybe a ft of water pressure from the bucket being slightly higher, but basically nothing. Also I didn't use the washer type one, I used the screw in one and used PFTE tape on it. Uploading pictures now... will do thread in a min...

This is great! You all have great ideas & beautiful work! About the black water holding tank, could a water heater blanket work to keep it insulated from the heat?

Ms Jellybean, here are my instructions. Feel free to ask questions if I missed something. I tend to over explain, it really isn't as complicated as I make it sound. The only hard bits are finding all the right bits (home desperate associates can be a big help with this!) and making sure the t pieces line up.

Nipple / Cup waterer made from tubing and PVC

The ones I was talking about leaking were the kind designed to fasten to a hose. Hose thread is different than pipe thread. The whole connection with that relies on the male imbeding itself into the washer.

right, mine isn't under pressure so I used a female adapter with a hose bib adapter on mine, it doesn't have a washer. The nipples don't work under pressure anyway so it is fine and doesn't leak.

Quote: I dont know why.... I used to build aquariums and terrariums.... but I absolutely Hate working with silicone.... LOL. My preferred construction with PVC because I cant dig will be using it in the same sense that youd use a garden hose. Lengths glued together to get the water to its destination then using short hoses to make the final connection.

My plan for the next plumbing go round will be to construct with the idea that some day I will be able to rent a ditch witch and have my neighbor run it for me to run the trenches..... Then with only a few changes dropping the pre-fabbed pipe into the ground.

My first task will be to run about a hundred linear feet from source to horse..... LOL... With a T off to the goats.
