DIY Thread - Let's see your "Inventions".

A new water system will be implemented, with the new roof that's going on and a roof washer will be installed for the rain barrels that we'll be putting in (I can't remember who posted anything, sorry :/ ) We live in WA, so I'm sure that rain barrel will be full in no time :D
Compost tumbler will be made from the general picture that was posted (the husband has already figured out how he's going to change that so the kids can fill and spin. Child labor is the best!)
I'll be using feed sacks as tarps, making bags, and as a poop guard under the roosting bars (wish I had thought about that a year ago! So many have been thrown away without even thinking of possible uses)
We'll be building the soil boxes for a forage blend to be grow without the roots being destroyed (the screen over the box system that was posted a while ago). Someone posted a link to groworganic.com .....that's going to be a lot of fun, I really think the kids will enjoy growing and watching the chickens enjoy that this winter :D
And then we're contemplating this meal worm farm thing and possible fermented feed.
I think deep litter method has been mentioned here, we've already started that.

I think I'm going to use the PVC tube feeders that were posted here for goat feed. I'm trying to figure out the hay waste situation, but I think I have a solution for that.

As you can see, my husband will be super busy this winter :D I'm the brains, he's the brawn of this operation!

This is not my invention, and it's for a different animal, but hey, maybe someone will figure out how to make it make sense for Chickens too?

Wow! Simple. I like that. Thought I'd post it so you could watch it here.

I have finally finished this thread. Such amazing ideas. I say thank you to all of you inventive and creative people, my husband grumbles in your general direction as his Honey-Do list has grown by leaps and bounds :D
Now to see how many of these ideas I can also use for goats!

Got lots for goats..... too many..... some the goats made themselves.... Like the time the plumber left the access door under the house unlocked.... Did you know Goats could rewire your phones?

LOL! I have no doubt whatsoever. Crafty monsters. We have 2 now, a Nubian and a Lamancha. They were given to us, now we're winging it.
