I have a two day old silkie chick which was born as one since the others died in the egg... I spread loads of crumbs on the floor to try as getitto eat and dipped its beak to try and get it to drink but it doesn't seem to eat as much is I'm thinking it pecks the crumbs from now and then but not much poo is seen ? Either should I be worried? It's chirping crazy and healthy... I'm not familiar as I've only worked with duckings before? And they eat ALOT! And poop a lot any help would be appreciated

She's okay. :) I agree with @james walker - give her another day, and she'll start eating. If you haven't already, I'd suggest a few small stuffed animals, a mirror, and a feather duster added to her brooder/tub if she's the only chick you have right now.

Due to chicks still living off the absorbed yolk sac for 3 days, that's how hatcheries and breeders are able to ship the chicks.

Aww, I'm so sorry for your losses! :( Just give her as much attention as you can and she should be very attached to you by the time she's grown up. :p And as for your other question, I don't think they eat as much as ducklings - I don't own any, but I read on Metzer Farms' website ducklings eat .5lbs of food on their first few days. Crazy!

Also any one think that it looks
