Do 3 week old chicks/roosters fight?

I just was amazed to watch 3, three and a half old chicks fighting. I guess they must be roosters. Is that normal? They were in the run just pulling each others feathers on top of their heads and jumping. The other chicks were already in the coop with the mom.

i think at that age they are mock fighting. They don't get too serious until 3-4 months.

The three must have been roosters? Correct? Or do the pullets fight like that?

All chicks fight. Pullets have to fight for their place in the pecking order too.

They all fight, to establish a pecking order, and often just to show thier stuff, but dont worry they wont have any to the death fights prior to reaching a month old so you still have time to enjoy the show.

I've seen 2 day olds play-fighting before, it was the cutest thing ever!

I just put my girls to bed for the night and my two 3 week old's had a mini brawl, it was a crazy couple of seconds!!!
