Do 3 week old chicks/roosters fight?

I have one little scrubby cockerel of my 23 that is a little smaller and may be part silkie who dives under a large barred pullet of the same age every time he gets picked on. He follows her like she's his mom! She is easily twice his size. they are right at 1 month old now and most are fully feathered. For her part, she acually seems to protect him from the ones who pick on him. She is HUGE compared to the rest. we call her Domino.

I've had sparring chicks before, but two of my 3 week olds are fighting themselves bloody! Is that normal? Yesterday I thought they were hens, but is this a sign of being roos?

Wow, I don't think it's normal. All chicks spar...so cute to watch, but what you're describing is downright brutal. No advice except to separate them maybe? Really can't say if they are roosters. Most chicks, boy or girl, spar equally at that age.

I don't think it's a fight i think there pretty much playing around or teasing the other one. I got 20 chicks right now that just turned 4 weeks and they open up their wings, jump up, and bump eachothers chest.

You should really see it. Hilarious. But another batch of of my chicks are pretty much around 14 weeks if i remember and they don't fight all the time. This is is just to show that their dominant. And from all the chickens i have had it is most likely to be the biggest pullet not the Roo unless he is huge compared to others.
