Do all chicks do this?

I live in Michigan. There would be no way for me to put any of my chicks outside, it’s basically winter right now and snow is everywhere and if I’m lucky the temps get up to about maybe 20° everyday. I do take them outside when it’s actually nice enough and let them have some fresh air. Besides that I let them run around my house in a homemade diaper while I’m doing things.
FWIW, I, and many keepers, brood outdoors in similar conditions....chicks are fine and arent even using supplemental heat past 4 weeks. Bird shown is more than capable of living outside where you live

I live in Michigan too. We had a brutal polar vortex blizzards but yesterday was 45°. Do you have a coop?

Yes, they'd need to be acclimated a bit to the temp change between house and coop...but it could be done. Might also depend on coop available.

It was 45° for you? I think we were around like 30°, except there’s still a lot of snow and ice everywhere. Yes I have run available to put them in to start them out outside and make sure my other 14 chickens get used to them. How do you like merge chicks with adult flocks? I just don’t want bloodshed.

I brood my chicks in the coop from 1 week after hatch and integrate them by 4-6 weeks: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/integrating-new-birds-at-4-weeks-old.72603/

Yep...45°! ...was pretty nice in that it melted all the freezing rain we got the day before.
Not sure you can see my avatar, if on a mobile might have to turn it to landscape.
