Do all eggs have an air pocket?

Do non fertile eggs and fertile but not incubated eggs have a small air pocket? I was candling eggs to look for cracks and noticed a dime-ish sized circle in the large end.

Thank you. I’m monitoring these for selection to possibly be incubated by a broody owned by a friend. No cracks allowed!

When an egg is freshly laid, the air sac/pocket is Very small. It looks like a very small air "circle" at the wide/large end of egg. The air sac grows day to day, whether or not it is being incubated. Refrigerating the eggs (for eating, dont refrigerate for hatching) slows down the air sac growth considerably.

In addition to checking for cracks when candling eggs for potential hatching candidates, If you see an air sac at pointy end of egg, a detached air pocket (the pocket moves as you rotate egg), the air pocket is large enough to take up a good portion of wide end of egg Before you start incubating (which usually means the egg is older), its best to not use those eggs in order to ensure the best hatch rate possible.
