Do all roosters attack people, or just mine?

I LOVE the sussex. I've been looking locally for a few months, but the GreenFire name has come up so often, I have been tempted to order from them.
This is a little tacky, but $19 for each day old chick is awfully steep for me - considering you wouldn't order just one. Maybe they'll give me a break on price since I just want a few males ;)

But, their silvers are BEAUTIFUL ;)

No, they definitely aren't all like this. Ours, while having a few specific issues that we're working on getting him over (due to some rough handling at his previous home) doesn't behave anything like this...or he'd be soup by now.

Just bear in mind that roosters don't necessarily mix well with children. Ours thinks that children's voices are rival roos, and kids tend to move quickly, erratically, and without any thought/concern for flock dynamics when around chickens. They also tend to be loud. They very quickly and easily end up misconstrued by roos as a threat. So there's some care and training to be had on the children end of things, too. Even a good, calm roo can attack if it feels provoked (whether the provocation was intentional or not).

Friendly hasn't gone after one of the kids (yet). I'll give a bird several chances at me, but the one that went after the 4yo was dinner the next day - which stinks because he was really good other than that (and show quality FBCM), I could easily pick him up like a baby.

I think i'll just put up an ad on craigslist for "kid safe blue rooster, breed unimportant" ;)

My mother suggested that the foxes have started to come out lately, so maybe he is just on alert. The birds of prey have been snatching things left and right out of our field, so it could just be a seasonal thing. Unfortunately, now I'm scared of him, so he still has to go.

We have a rooster that jumps on my husband so I was scared of him, to keep him away I would throw bread crumbs to him and the chickens, now 2 weeks later he follows me around like a puppy and takes bread out of my hand.I don't know if the problem is solved but so far so good. I hope this helps!!

No one needs to put up with a human-aggressive rooster. The blue Orp in my avatar is going on 6 years old and has never bitten, flogged or even rushed me, not even when I was holding one of his screaming hens. Today, we trimmed his too-long spurs so he wouldn't trip. He laid in my lap like a big blue teddy bear, such a love. I have a Delaware rooster who is the same way-he loves for me to rub his chest every day, several times a day. He comes when I call, follows me everywhere. He's over 3 years old now, never once flogged me. They both throw good-tempered sons most of the time-temperament is heritable. I'd never breed from or keep a human-aggressive rooster (the exception are the D'Anver bantam roosters, who think they are super-tough little men, but they weigh about 20 ounces and you can't even feel them flog your shoe, LOL)
