do anyone put wire underground?

I have wire buried 2 feet deep and 18" out on all sides of my coop/run. At the corners, it was difficult to get the wire to bend/contour to the corners, so I cut the wire on the corner, and then overlapped another piece of wire about 8 inches over both of the cut ends and twisted the cut ends of the top piece into the wiring of the pieces it overlaps. So actually, the corners are double protected.

wow! sounds intense...

I am going to have to tell coop expert about it (i.e. dad)

LOL

We did the skirt thing and layed it outward. We knew it wouldn't be long before the grass took it over, but we went around the yard, collecting broken pieces of concrete and rocks to apply over the wire, as an added precaution and to conceal the wire. I would agree that coated wire would be better, and perhaps in a few years if I see I need to make that repair, that is what I will do, but so far the only chicken we lost was me that accidentally killed it.
