I recently got a bantam old english game rooster and plan on having him mate with other hens.Im just wondering if he could mate with one of my larger hens like black austrolorps and if so produce a decent carcass to eat.

people eat quail and other small birds so i don't see why not.
It might be better to use a full size bird for breeding.
I don't know how game chickens are for eating. They might be on the tough side.

I doubt the little guy will be able to mate with an Australorp.
My male silkies have tried but never managed to do it.

Poor little fellas. They see them big black beautiful hens and
fall in love.

Im also wondering if I could get a decent body to eat if he mated with any of the other bantams.and thx for the ansewers

You get more meat off a bantam than a quail. We just did about 2 dozen quail and 7 bantam roos. The problem is it took 4-5months to raise the bantam roos and 8weeks to raise the quail with half as much food and space going into the quail. You can butcher bantams and make a meal of them no problem but it's not very cost effective. You get little meat for a lot of food and work.
