I usually get - Can they lay eggs if you don't have a rooster?

That seems a little more of a legit question.

The probelm stems from most of society being totally removed from nature IMO

I had a chicken that I was sure it was a roo. I took it to a lady I know who owns a feed store so she could sell it because I am not allowed roos. Well she had it for a few days and low and behold it laid an egg. So obviously it was just a very masculine looking hen and she asked if I wanted it back. I said no she could sell it and jokingly commented that she should sell it as a rare and elusive egg laying rooster for 50 bucks. I left for home. It was a joke seriously but she took me serious and made a little sign that read "Rare and elusive egg laying Rooster! ~ 50.00" and left the egg in the bottom to show it was laying. Sure enough someone bought that rare and elusive egg laying rooster!!!


People absolutely amaze me on a daily basis!
