Okay, so a woman is at the North Main Science fair on March 18,2009. She goes to a corner of the room where there is a table, a poster with info on chickens,a brooder,3 toy chicks,an incubator with 18 incubating eggs inside it,a third grader,her mom,and about a dozen viewers.She starts firing off questions to the third grader.

"How'd you get that incubator?"

"Where did you get those eggs?"

"What's the difference between these eggs and the eggs we buy in WalMart?"

"Do you have your own chickens?"

"Why aren't these eggs hatching then?"

Then comes the stupidest question of all:"How do you tell their gender?The girls hatch from pink eggs,and the boys hatch from blue eggs right?"

The third grader cracks up.

This crazy lady thought that egg color determined gender!

For her info, there's no such thing as a pink egg!And there was a information poster- which ibcluded how you tell the chicks' gender!

My girls lay brown eggs and I gave a dozen of them to a friend - a week later she gave me the empty carton back (thank you!) And asked me "brown eggs mean they're fresher right?"

She grew up with the notion that white eggs aren't as fresh as the brown ones.....She is very good with numbers though.........

Many of my customers believe the same here in Florida.

I have customers who have kept their own birds in the past that believe brown eggs taste different from white shelled ones. I tell them "only if you're eating the shells otherwise my white egg layers are eating the same feed and pasture that my brown egg layers are."
