Some of mine sit on the roost and tell me how to do it. Then they want a pet.

I force all of mine into the run while I clean, it's much easier and I don't have to dodge my silkies who don't get out of the way of the shovel, broom or me. I have to lore most of the girls in the run with treats & then gentle push the rest out the door. The entire time I'm cleaning I've got a few girls standing at the entrance demanding to be let back in. Afterwards the coop "gets inspected" by the girls but I think they are just looking for more special treats.

I cleaned the coop yesterday..and you would have thought that the sky was falling..my Light Brahama Miss Maggie went on a triade when she realized her nesting boxes were in fact in the wrong spot...clean yes but 1/4 of an inch to the left..OMG! The older ladies would not leave the run to free range until I was done and eveything was back to normal....so I would say yes..some do get upset..my younger ones..well they were more upset at the big black thing that was after them...they just knew that it was gonna eat them..running around sounding the alarm for the others.....darn trash bags!

I cleaned mine out the other day while they were out freeranging. I had a few who followed me around as I moved from one end of the coop to the other. They felt the need to question and tell me everything as I was going along. The funny part was after I was done. Come time for them to go to bed, they kept hopping up on the ramp, would look inside then run down and away. It took almost an hour of looking in at the suspicious new litter and clean smell before any of the girls would go in. They do this every time I clean. You would thing they would know better by now!

Mine couldn't care less. A few may walk the ramp to check the progress but they don't gripe or complain. Usually though I've refreshed the water, food and treats in the run before I clean the house so they're occupied and satiated.
