Do chickens have taste buds?

They have to be able to taste stuff cause they wouldnt eat my cooking either.

I have received burns similar to sunburns just from handling peppers. While it's true they don't have capsaicin receptors like my hands don't, I personally would not overdo it for fear of causing internal damage.

From what I've read they have the receptors but they don't fire off as they would in mammals. And when it comes to the hottest peppers (the ones where the only flavor is SURFACE OF THE SUN), I don't think even birds will naturally eat those. But milder ones seem to be no issue.

They ate what I gave 'em: the cap ends, ribs, seeds and pointed tips of a jalapeño, a pasilla and some Anaheims.

I'm sure they'd eat the shakshuka too but I'm not sharing that!

I don't know about the taste buds because mine don't eat carrots or pumpkin and they prefer zucchini over squash...don't ask me why but they seem to be very picky...
