Do they normally lay eggs in the morning? When my chicks are older they will free range during the day. I am worried that when they are they will lay eggs outside and my dog will eat them. One Easter there were eggs outside and I think she ate three! Have any of your dogs ever eaten raw eggs that they found outside? I don't want my dog to get sick or end up eating up all the eggs! I am hoping they will lay them in the morning before they come out!
Thanks so much!

They generally lay before noon but every now and then they'll lay later. I don't think it will hurt your dogs to eat them but I've heard that once a dog starts its hard to get him to stop

Raw eggs won't hurt your dog. Sometimes I add them to my dog's dry food and mix it up. The shells shouldn't hurt the dog either but too much additional calcium can cause kidney stones so that would be my biggest concern (I'm not sure how much egg shells have in them though, or how much calcium dogs have to ingest to get stones).

My chickens lay all day, some in the morning and afternoon. Once my rottweiler ate a hole in ,y hoddie that I hung up and forgot to take out the eggs. She was fine. It was about 5 or 6 eggs she ate at one time.

I usually get what I'm going to get by about 3pm. Yesterday I got 2 late entries. One from my EE who recently started laying. It was soft shelled and outside of the coop/run and I caught the girls eating it (I would have just fed it to them anyway) and at 9pm when I went to close them in for the night I found one sitting in the grass outside of the run. I think the heat is affecting them. They all seemed pretty miserable yesterday.
