Do Chickens Like to Get Into Water?

Float maybe for a time, but not for long....I wish folks wouldn't post those pics, misleading.

What kind of cereal containers? Am picturing cardboard boxes. Not cereal buyer, so <shrugs>

This what I've found to work the best for cooling chickens,
better than ice in waterer, frozen foods, etc:
I give a dose of Sav-a-Chick electrolytes/vitamins about once a week during heat waves. Iit really seems to help....started this after they saved a heat stroked hen once.

...and BIG(9x14x2") chunks of ice last all day for wading, sitting, and sipping.

I absolutely second the Sav a Chick and the ice, plus deep shade is an absolute must. I live in AZ and give Sav a Chick every few days when it's hot here. We aren't just hot during the day, our overnight lows can be over 90* for quite a while too.

Is sav a chick different from poultry vitamins? Do you syringe it or add to drinking water? It’s been hot here already and it’s early days yet. I’m looking into all sorts of things to help keep them cool.

Different. Electrolytes

ETA my flock likes cucumbers and melons this time of year. Room temp is going to be cool to them if they're outside.

Oh aart, it's ok. I did explain ...very low, and not alone. I don't think anyone will leave a chicken in a pool alone. :hugs

Sav-a-Chick is like gatorade for chickens. 1 packet in a gallon of water.

Thanks, @igorsMistress ... I understand that this product is the chix equivalent of GatorAde. What I'm wondering is, if I don't have Sav-A-Chick on hand, can I use GA *instead* without harming my fowl? I always have GA on hand but my nearest feed store is 35 miles away, one way. Thanks.

My apologies for the misunderstanding.
