Do chickens need water overnight?

We set up a bucket with nipple waterers in the run. But at night time, the chickens are inside the coop. Do I need to provide a second source of water inside the coop or do they just sleep all night and not need water? I was planning on keeping water only outside to keep the coop shavings dry since we're doing the deep litter method. Thanks!

It really depends on how diligent you know you are. I don't keep water in the coop but then I'm naturally an early riser. About once in 2 months do I oversleep and let the chickens out after 7. Usually they're out within 30 minutes after dawn or after the winter light turns on.

Up at 5AM everyday with my chihuahuas. Never have provided food/water inside coop-- only run. But, if I'm as much as 10 minutes late, those beaks sound like automatic rifle fire on their plexiglass windows as they impatiently watch me coming!

I have an Auto feeder and 2 waters 5 gallons a piece one inside and one outside case they wanna hang inside to get away from the sun and heat of the day.. So the only choice here is yours.....

mine dont have any in the coop. my run is secure enough that their coop door stays open all night and when they wake up in the a.m. they can get out and eat/drink whenever they please. i dont see why they would need it in the coop if theyre sleeping all night long
