I am in the final stages of my "new" coop building. I plan to paint inside and out. Is there any particular color that makes the chickens happiest?

I am SO very proud of my "new" building. It is a reclaimed hog building. I split it into 2 sections to keep my 2 flocks separate. Each has thier own weather-proof, rat-resistant Nesting/sleeping area with a wood floor... and a dirt floored play/eating area safe from rain. Each flock will be let out to free-range everyother day to prevent fighting.

I have Red Sex-links, BO and Black Copper Marans. I love my Buff Orpps the BEST.

They obviously see red since they attack red (i.e. blood)...so dont use red....POST pics please....I wanna see your masterpiece! I painted the inside of mine bright white semi-gloss. I would say anything light and bright.

It was so funny...when I started painting the floor, one nosey little nellie decided that she wanted to take a taste of the paint. I chased that silly hen out of there twice before I finally figured out how she was getting in! She now wears a sporty shade of green on one wing from where she got picked up in my painty gloves. LOL New breed of hen..... she's now a red-green.

that's a real good question.

I painted my Kiltz oil based white, hoping for easy cleaning. it seems 'too bright' for my taste. I was wondering if hunter green (like your floor) would have been better.

i didnt pain the inside of my coop, but i painted the outside. we had the coop done before the yard so we had the chickens in the coop and fence stapled over the door to the unfinished yard, and when i was painting that part of the coop, the chickens started eating the paint close to the door. they all were covered in maroon paint. lol.
