Do chicks need grit to eat yogurt?

I gave my babies yogurt and they walk in it after looking at it like it was going to attack. I guess I should try it again too

Chickens are afraid of anything new. If one of the chicks happens to get a taste of yogurt they are going to go back for more. The other chicks will watch that one eat it and be willing to try it themselves.
Leave a dish of it in with them for awhile. They'll get over their fear. You can also try sprinkling some of their chick starter on top of the yogurt.
