Do chicks need heat lamp in outside pen?

Do my silkies (18 wkers) need a heat lamp in their pen outside. I only put them out there during the day and bring them in during the night. I live in SC and the ground never freezes here. It's been in the 50's here latly.

Any suggestions? They were cold today, Shivering...

At 18 weeks, they really don't require a heat lamp at any time.

Sounds like they are old enough to be without heat lamp. I have some two and half months olds with lights but if they were a month older I wouldn' use it. Yours are nearly 5 months so I think they would fair fine.

if you live in a cold place it's best to have a heat lamb in the cold

I don't consider the SOUTH cold...

Thanks guys! I'm kinda worried about them being out there at night...We'll just work on the days now.
