do cochin bantams free range far? please answer . . . . (:

i have some. hatched in april and they always jump over my fence and go far from the coop. once they get bigger/fatter will they still range far?

Mine don't & i have about 30, however i do have 2 little roos that stay with the older hens and they range all over.

Mine are happy to hang near home, and I've never had one jump the fence. Perhaps run a short fence along the top until they get heavier?

i have some pens in my coop and once i get some wire for the pens im going to take the fence down. will they still stay if theres no fence. i have a mottled,2 partridges,and a standard white who have a thing for going far!

how much longer until they fill out and are fully mature. 6 months-to a year?

Mine freerange with everyone else right now and are doing fine.

Mine always stayed within about 20 yards of the coop. The little guys can be less ambitious about their rambling if there's plenty to keep them busy close to home.
