Do cochins have problems mating?

Well, he is a hatchery cochin, but he is very fluffy. He is also young, 27 weeks old, and I agree that cochins definitely do take longer to mature. Even though he is trying to mount the girls, he has yet to crow. Maybe I should just give him some more time and if that doesn't work, get out the trimmers

Thanks guys

here is a picture of my guy to the left. He does not have any problem's he has provided many fertile eggs with other cochin's, and Easter Eggers. Actually he produced a beautiful rooster half cochin and Easter Egger. Haven't had to trim any feathers except for hens when they become soiled. A gentle giant he is, and a fine Roo.

my bantam cochin tries to mate the red stars, they squat, but he can only mount the smallest ones. the bigger ones, he just mates at an angle from the side. pathetic looking really, kinda funny though. he wont even touch the big Australorps or the Barred rocks which are bullies. but hes only 5 months old.

I placed an order to Ideal and added one S.L. Cochin and one blk Cochin( both girls). The roo I have now is S.L. So, he has the summer to figure this whole thing out!

Is he the head roo? Mine still hasn't crowed either, but he's lower on the totem pole...

No, he is not the head roo. In fact, he is very badly chased around and bullied by my BA roo. I feel kind of bad for him.
