Do Cohins usually lay more than two eggs per year?

I really enjoy mine too. They are sweet birds that just happen to be beautiful. I actually bought mine initially to hatch some eggs for some of my non-sitting birds. Their egg-laying wasn't a factor for me. They have become one of my favorites. Did you find some eggs?

I did! There is a breeder that is only about 40 minutes away! He is from Craigslist, wish me luck. I'll be calling him in about two weeks. My incubator is full right now with Blue Wheaten eggs. I will be using them as layers. Then it's on to pretty chickens.

Thank you also for the offers, folks.

our bantam pullet laid about 6/week from the day she started laying till she went broody on us( took a little over a month)... shes currently raising some babies right now, but I imagine she will lay reasonably well when she starts back up again, until she goes broody again, that is...

I have 4 large fowl cochin hens right now, but they haven't started laying yet. They're around 7 months old, and I've heard that it can take them a while to mature, so I figure they'll start when they start. However, I have a bantam cochin hen that lays around 4 eggs per week, except now. She's been on strike this winter. lol!

I have a bunch of Cochins, none of which are laying at almost 11 months old, but I love them. They're so sweet and beautiful. Its so funny to see them all come waddling towards me whenever I come to the coop. I got them so I could have some good broodies, so I'm not really concerned with poor egg production. Their funny little personalities make the egg wait totally worth it :)

I have hatching eggs for sale also LF Barred Cochins :) I love these chickens. They are so big and fluffy and sweet! My four year old carries my big ole rooster around under his arm!
