This is the weirdest thing. I have a blue runner Drake. I just got three young ladies. Two are black, one is fawn. What's so weird is he's absolutely not interested in the fawn, but won't leave the other two alone. I'm sure Daphne's fine with this, but have any of your seen anything like this?

That's an interesting question, I am new to raising ducks and have wondered that myself. Our Rouen/Pekin mix are getting to the age where the boys and girls are starting to take a little more interest in the opposite sex. :barnie

I have seen some of our Hens pick out a certain Drake and that's the only one they will give the time of day over the others. I thought Geese where the only ones that did that?

I know absolutely nothing about runners except that they are a very popular breed. Is it possible your fawn is a Drake?

My four started out really picky. My blue swedish hen was only interested in the blue swedish drake. My Pekin hen was only interested in...me 🤷‍♀️. Poor Cayuga drake had no one giving him the time of day, but he remained a gentleman about it (they're all young still). The Pekin is kind of the head of the flock and everyone follows her around, so once she figured out I'm not going to satisfy her requests, she started accepting advances from the Cayuga, and now the blue swedish hen does too. It's been kind of entertaining to watch the dynamic unfold.

I have BBS and fawn & white Runners and it does seem like at least one of mine has a color preference: I've noticed that a silver Runner duck only seems to be interested in silver drakes. She always has a couple of silver boys hanging around her, and spurns the advances of the others. :idunno She's the only one I've seen with a clear preference, though.

I've noticed my Drake's all seem to have their favorites.

Rudy (Runner)- Will try to mount pretty much anything that moves except my fawn and white runner hen Agatha. The funny part is Rudy and Agatha are always together, but I have never once seen him mount her.

Shakespeare (Hookbill)- Loves my little Mallard Willow and Runner Agatha. He also is pretty fond of my Dusky Mallard Hookbill Sage.

Ichabod (Hookbill): I have only seen him mount my Hookbill hens and he is always a gentleman about it. When a hen approaches him he will mount her, but I've never seen him once chase after a hen.

Samson (Rouen): Never let's my Rouen Hen Delilah out of sight and she is the only hen I've seen him mount. They often pair off and just mind their own business.
