yep, everything with a gizzard, needs grit or dirt or stones of some form, it is what grinds their food to aid in pre-digestion, basically it how they chew.

My ducks are 5 weeks old and eat peas, vorn , blueberries & lettuce. Do they need grit? They are still on grower food.

Yes they should find it on their own. Otherwise you can get chick grit or grit at feed stores.

Thanks
I found a spot where there is sandish/ pebbleie spot and they ate some right up! They're so smart! Thanks again

Hi,
I saw your entry about your ducks eating everything. I have a 3 mths old call duck and she's I think she's constipated. She's kept inside w/ me as she's orphaned. I have her on recycled paper small-animals type shavings & feed her Mazuri waterfowl maintenance feed. I think she ate some of the bedding. She's alert & drinking and eating a little feed, eager to eat greens. She only passed a little droppings yesterday when I had her out to play for about an hour. I.m cleaning her cage this am to better monitor it.

Any suggestions? I'm trying to make sure she's ok today. If there's no improvement I'll take her to bird vet tomorrow, but they're closed today. She.'s my baby so I have to get her thru this. Thx!
