Do female parakeets talk less then males?

So, I've heard that male parakeets talk a lot, and females rarely talk. Just wondering to what extent this is true?
 
That is very true. However, parakeets(I'm assuming you mean budgies) aren't known to be good talkers in general. Whistles, chirps, songs they will do but few actually talk, though it does happen.
 
I've never heard a female speak at all. Most males won't talk either, especially if you have more than one bird. I had one talker, he said about three phrases.
