do geese bite?????

My female never was bitey until she had a nest of eggs and I came within 20 ft of it. It's the gander who's been a biter, but he's been very laid back since breeding season was over. He was a holy terror from February through June. I had to warn people to not go to the back door or else.

my gander bites like it's going out of style, and he uses his little bald orange elbows to whack me so hard, it is almost enough to make me cry. Mrs. goose rarely bites, but she really doesn't like my FIL, so she 'does' bite, just not so much... my baby goosie likes to bite my ring, i have to figure out how to train her to NOT eat me or the kids...

No way.

Even non-aggressive geese like to examine everything out of the ordinary with their beaks, especially round shiny objects, but also shoelaces, velcro, buttons, necklaces, seams, freckles - and fingers, ouch! Their beaks have ridges, and they grind away happily until they draw blood - at which point I usually remove my hand...

I wonder if they will keep the fox away. My chickens cannot free range because of the fox. They are very hard to get a shot at.

Took out most of my chickens. Now they are in a fenced in area. I would rather they free range.
