I just lost a hen to a red tailed hawk. I scared him off but will it come back to get her?
probably , i have a lot of them here and i watch them try to carry their kill off and cant then come back and try a few times. luckily, they havent got any of mine
Welcome to BYC!
They will come back for more chickens after they kill one. Try posting in the Predators and Pests section. Good Luck!
Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan
Sometimes yes, certainly it will likely come back looking for more chickens. You should confine your birds for a week or so, and the bird may move on.
I have her laying where he killed her. Do you think he will c0me back to get her?
Sorry about your chicken, a Red Tailed Hawk killed my White Rock hen and came back after i scared him away, also, 3 other hawks of different sizes kept landing in the tree above my dead hen.
So not only will the hawk come back, but it will bring it's friends. (bummer)
do you want it to? it would be best if you got rid of it. you dont need to reward the hawk. that will defiantly make it come back for more
Welcome to BYC.
Sorry about your White Rock!
This is the second time this has happened this month and my husband won't let me cut down the tree where their nest is.
I want to get rid of them!
