Do hens crow???

I am still not totally convinced that what I believed were 2 hens are truly roos. The "rooster" of the same breed had a very different comb. But these two cock-a-doodle-do. I have read that in the absence of a rooster, hens will crow. Is this true? One of them crowed even when "rooster" was still with us (he was a sick chicken

and very calm). Now that he is gone...both of them do it. Who is confused...my wyandottes or me????

Hens do sometimes crow on of my female Bantams does, but you have a rooster there.

yup, that did it. thanks for those pics. I am now convinced that they are roos. oh well, we love them anyway! They get along, I guess because they have been together since they hatched. I still wonder why the other one we had, had a totally different comb (same feathers so Im still saying he was a roo too). Thanks so much everyone!!!! Geez we are gonna be down some eggs then.

Yea as long as they continue to get along we can keep them. They are not overly loud and we have gotten attached!!!
