okay I was looking this up because my Buff Orpington try to do it to my poor Brahma. I didn't know if I should be worried or if I should break them up. My poor Brahma has been dealing with being separated because of a wound. I'm probably going to have another rooster so she might be separated and live with the other rooster instead of with the flock because my one rooster I had with the flock didn't try to stop it.

Yes, absolutely. I have 13 hens and no rooster. My Selmtaler "Cindy" is mounting the other hens all the time. She mounted one of my Australrop hens twice today. She performs just like a rooster.

I just saw my 5 MO Brown Leghorn mount my 5 MO ISA Brown... which is why I looked up this subject and found this discussion. Freaked me out!! A couple of my girls have already started laying (which was also a surprise) and I was wondering if that was the cause.

I have 3 Brahma hens about 9 months old. Just witnessed one of mine mounting the weakest one. Scared me to death! I get three eggs per day so I know they’re all females. I was wondering why my little one had a dirty back. It seems the middle hen has muddy feet and decided to show her dominance over her I guess.
