Do hens mount each other?!?!?!

Nope, not always true. My chicks learned to 'squat' for my son. He would put them in his hand and make them sit. Even now, if you touch my rooster's back, he will squat. My daughter told me that he was a she...she insisted...he is now head roo!

I have a production red that 'mates' other hens.. and I KNOW she's a she - she's laying me an egg every day. :p It's rather amusing when the rooster chases HER down - they are both rather young so hopefully when the younger rooster can gain dominance she'll stop this. Had another production red that did this for years in an all girl coop. Was pretty funny. It's just a show of dominance, assuming in your case that it's really a hen. :)

Heres the pictures! It is a sunny morning so they are a little hazy.

S-He is supposed to be an australorp, but aren't australorps ALL black?

ok, what is she? That is what i ordered. and the place ordered from is small hatchery, so it doesn't have many other breeds. this is the only black breed they have, i think.
