I recently acquired four chicks! I'm very excited to have my first flock. My chicks were sexed, so I'm hoping I have all pullets, but my Rhoad Island Red has me a little nervous. Her behavior stands out among the other chicks (all different breeds). At just two weeks, she is very full of herself. She is not afraid to run right at my hand when I reach in to change feed/water. She also seems to be taking charge of the others; definitely #1 in pecking order. She perches on top of the feeder and walks with a strut, head held high. Does anyone know if this is typical of the Rhoad Island Red breed? Maybe I'm speculating too much, but does this at all sound like I may have a roo on my hands?
