Yeah. EEs are usually one of the easiest birds to sex at this age. The males have clear male patterns and the females have their softly pencilled feathers or faded patterns. While the males have bright colors, like black or blue necks and red shoulders.

Of course, some EEs are trouble. But most are easy.

I am so sad! I never thought Mrs. Owl could be a rooster! I am posting pics of the 2nd one now in question at different angles. I am hoping maybe it was a case of mistaken identity caused by poor coop lighting??? It really is quite small in size compared to the other one!

Definitely a boy. Those red shoulders don’t lie, and that comb is pretty large and pink.
