This Silkie is 7 months old. All behavior is pointing to a cockerel. I have two others - same age. I noticed a bump on beak this morning while brushing that the others do not have. No one is laying or crowing yet

. I know its hard to say with silkies, even more so with a picture but opinions appreciated!

This one is really tricky. I'm leaning toward boy.... Can you do a close up of wattles??? that might help. Nice silkie!!!!! Changing my mind staring at it again. I don't see a bossy puffed out look. So I'm changing to Girl!

Thanks for your thoughts! Does anyone know if an avian vet csn sex silkies? I am going to call my vet today and see. I am so confused with these critters!

A vet can send a sample off for DNA testing.

Ooh. I didn't think of that. I actually work for a vet. Will have to call the lab and get a price on that!

That is a Silkie hen. What sort of cockerel behavior are you seeing?

Very protective of the others, trying to play rough and 'strut stuff', I sent pics to it's breeder. She is unsure just from the pics and she hasn't seen him/her in 3 months. It is also much bigger than the others. I understand this doesn't mean 'she' is a 'he' lol. I am actually going to run some bloodwork today so we shall see!
