Do I have all Roos ‍♀️‍♀️

If you have the space and enough hens to keep the males happy- but that's a lot of cockerels. I'd look into your options but wait before acting. In some cases a couple roos are okay. In other cases, they get aggressive. You may have to re-home some.

My kids are wanting them gone bc they get aggressive towards them and are picking on and beating up on their favorite chicks. I had to separate to hens for them to recover from constant picking on them. One of our favorites gets so submissive bc they all peck her she won’t move until I go pick her up and hold her:(.

Do what you gotta do, and good luck!

might if you have the space make a bachelors pen for the sanity of everyone, young cockerels and hormones is not a fun thing for your family or your hens that aren't ready yet. That will keep things calmer and without any of them with the pullets you can wait and see too, once they level out they settle better

I am really sad right now- they were all supposed to be pullets and got the opposite. Ugh

You are in good company here. Lots of chicken keepers have been through similar. It stinks!

I really am sorry. Especially for the kiddos since they should get to have a good intro into animal care not a "hey look 6 big roosters are chasing little Johnny."

:(:(

Yes I am trying to teach them to be farmers and help out on farm too. ‍♀️

How old should they get before we send them to the butcher?
It's a personal choice and depends on what you can put up with.

Before 16 weeks is often not worth the meet in this breed. But we butcher when hormones dictate the need according to flock dynamics. The first time I was very slow wrapping my head around the process and birds were closer to 35 weeks. The older the bird, the firmer the meat, the lower and slower the heat and the rest in the fridge (or brine) before cooking.

Craigslist farm and garden section is also a good place to advertise for free even if you ask a fee for them. If you don't wanna know they will be dinner, just say so in the ad. Also, adding your general location to your profile will help peeps make the best suggestions possible at a glance. ;)

If they came from a hatchery, they should refund you for any non pullets though you will still have to deal with them. If they came from a breeder, they were lying about being able to sex these chicks at day old. Sometimes feed stores do mislabel their bins or make mix ups. :barnie
