Do I help my eggs? Day 22.

I am so sorry that you lost her, but where she was having a time swallowing the liquid, it sounded to me like something bad was happening with her. I never get attached to babies I know how quickly they can go. The more vocal they are the more I have noticed that they are usually the ones that pass on. I had 3 die last year after hatching all were very vocal for a few days. We tried everything possible with one of my Delawares to keep it alive, and nothing helped.

sad for your loss :(

Thanks for your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost her! :( I lost mine too.

I was just going to ask how your little one was doing. Sorry to hear it passed, when did it die? :hugs
So hard to lose these little buggers.

The water thing was very strange, but I was so glad she had came back from it.
I told myself I wouldn't get attached to her. But it didn't work, it never does for me.
What is your secret? Lol.

Is it possible to not get attached? For me, it is doable.. I just don't know about the little chicks though- not when they are just beginning life. It's always sad to lose a baby chick! My little one passed away on Monday. It looks like she passed away peacefully in her sleep. It was easier for me that way, so I am really glad that it was so peaceful. She got to where she would just sit there and peep, almost like she was crying. I would keep running in there thinking that there was something wrong, but every time, it was just her, sitting there peeping. She would quiet down if I left her alone for a while, but a lot of times I would feel sorry for her, so I would hold her. She'd fall asleep easy and just snooze a lot. I knew that there was something up with her because she slept far too much for a baby chick and also, she was so much tinier than the others. It was like she wasn't even growing at all!

But now, they don't have to suffer anymore with whatever handicaps they would have trying to grow up.

I know I love all baby chicks. However I have forced myself over the past 5 years to not get attached until when they are 2 weeks old, then it's ok to do it. The first week or 2 is when you will usually lose a few.

Golly, the anguish! I do hope he/she makes it. I must say I do help my chicks. Had to pick the dried membrane off one with a pair of jeweller's tweezers! He was knackered! He soon picked up and is now a beautiful silver pekin of four years old.
Yours, rachel

I just saw your pics the eggs should not be siting up in a carton they should be laying on there side from day 18 good luck
