Do I help my eggs? Day 22.

I got her to eat some mashed up yolk/polyvistol/water using a piece of thread. I made a loop out of the thread and left it long enough so that if she pecks it, she won't be able to eat the thread.
She ate quite a bit using this method. Got her to eat at 11:00 AM and she just ate some more at about 12:30.
Trying to feed her every hour or so. Is this too often, or does this sound good?

She's doing ok, Im hoping that food will get her feeling better.
She is pooping. It's still green, but she isn't that old, so it's to be expected. :)

That's plenty of food--you don't need to feed her every hour--how old is she? Shipped chicks don't eat or drink until day 3. Just leave some food on brooder floor and some water and let her get when she wants.

She's about 47 hours old.
She won't eat if I put it on the floor of her box. She has to be hand fed right now. She isn't sturdy on her feet yet.
I do think there is something Wrong with her. She isn't a normal chick.

Is she trying to walk at all??? They normally do at this stage, they will walk around in the brooding area. In fact you may want to have a very small stuffed toy for her to lay up against. we did that with one of ours last year until when the rest started hatching out, then it was OK, however it needed something to lay close to like a brother or sister. a very small stuffed toy does the job and it stays warm under the lamp.

She tries to walk, but easily loses her balance. She is actually a lot more sturdy today than she was yesterday. She also stays more up right today. So that's a good sign. She actually seems to be preening herself less often today as well.

She has a sock to lay against in her brooder. She likes to snuggle against it.

I'm really glad that we are getting food in her. I was worried about that.

I'm thinking of maybe making her a pair of those "chick shoes" out of band aids. They may help her walk better.

Thanks again for all the very helpful advice. I'd be lost without it.
I'll keep you all updated.

Sounds like things may be looking up. Hope and pray for the best. I know with our little baby. I told God to do what was best woke up the next morning and she was gone. But like I told the kids, she was in a better place, and wouldn't have to be in pain any more. I don't know if it was painful for her or if it was just a birth defect but both of her little feet went out to the sides and you could see at the bend they were malformed. I told my kids I never want to see that happen again. The mama to that one passed away about 2 days after the baby did, I still say it was her way of saying good bye trying to hatch out eggs, but she just was to old and way to sick. Lemon had internal hatching, so none of the eggs under her, were even hers. But she would steal other hens eggs and roll them to her spot.

Keep us updated. It is good news though that the baby is eating and starting to move around now.

I offered her some hard boiled egg. She ate about 2 bites, pecked them herself.

Her neck seems really long. I don't know why? Maybe it's the way she stands, just looks different to me.
She's always preening herself. Obsessively. Not sure what is causing it. Maybe she is uncomfortable.

We will see how it goes.
She should be up and running by now, you found the links at the bottom of the hatching 101 article? there are therapy chairs you can try if you are willing to put this much time into your chick, it seems as though you may have the time and your not a breeder so she could be added to your flock. ONLY if she ends up able to care for herself, I have seen some chick chairs that resemble a baby bounce swing, it helps them gain strength, think out of the box and you can come up with something that will help take the weight off the legs yet gain strength and mobility in them.

sunny YOU are the only one who knows if you have the time to put into the chick and if she ends with disabilities can you always care for her?

I wish you luck, and I may suggest if you attempt therapy to continue to document with videos and images to share with everyone on this journey

adding, be careful not to under or over heat her, she cannot get away from heat so you will need to be careful of this..... :)
