Do I help my eggs? Day 22.

Haha, I agree! They do look like little worms.

She is trying to preen herself despite being sooo tired. :p

Her neck is favored to bending more to the left. I guess she was just in the egg so long that her neck is stiff?

I have two other eggs, the same exact kind of eggs that this little one came out of. Today would make day 24, no pips. They were all healthy and moving a couple days ago. Candled today- no movement.
Should I do the float test? How much longer do I give them?

You could float test any time now. Just make certain that there aren't any cracks or pips first! Some pips are really tough to see. lol Keep us updated on that! I'm curious to see what is going on with the other two.

Just helped my chick.
Luckily it appears that her yolk sac has been absorbed and her veins are for the most part receded!!
Her foot was sort of stuck and I was able to free it.

She has a little blood I could see around her navel area. And it looks like she may have veins still on one piece of membrane that is attached to her navel.

See that piece of membrane with veins (near her head like) that membrane is attached to a thin piece that goes to her belly area.

She is now resting in the egg carton. Still has the bottom of the egg on her.
I had her on the bator floor but she looked to be gasping a bit. So I propped her up in the carton and she seems to be breathing better.

She has her eye open, but right now she is sleeping.
She was chirping to me when I assisted her. Chirps every once in a while in the bator too.

Any advice? Should I remove her from the egg completely once those veins stop bleeding? They really don't seem to be bleeding bad, but I know when you see blood you're suppose to stop.
WONDERFUL PHOTOS! Thank you for posting, was very cool to see it.

A little update on the chick this morning-

We've decided to name her Ellie. She is still alive, but I am concerned. Her neck is favored to bending to the left and it is throwing her off balance so she falls over a lot because of it.
Her toes may be curled but it's hard to tell since she isn't really walking.
Today I will take her out of the incubator and look at her better. I will also get new pictures for you guys.

What is wry neck? I've heard of it, but know next to nothing about it. Wondering if this is something Ellie may have?
I'll have to research it some more.

Her neck is bent the same way it was when she was in the egg (to her left).

I have polyvistol (without iron) should I try to get her to drink some of that today? Should i dilute it in water?

Or is Gatorade better?

Thanks all for the help. I'm really hoping Ellie pulls through.

Give her the polyvistol. Take her out of the incubator but make sure she is not too close to the heat source as she's not getting around well. Or, just leave her in incubator--I was just thinking she'd have more room to try and get around in the brooder.

She is in the brooder and doing pretty good. Sitting up ok right now. She even is preening herself with her little beak.

She still has the clicking noise in her lungs occasionally.
She is very alert. And just pooped for the first time.

When should I feed her? I've been offering her polyvistol diluted in water (2 drops in 16 ounces of water).
She does drink the water a little bit.
She still doesn't stand, she sits up though. Still not sure if she has leg problems or not.

What shall I do with the remaining two eggs?

I candled them and I see thin lines on the bottom of the air sac (veins?).
I tried the float test but It was very difficult to figure out if there is any movement.

Today is day 25 (technically day 26 is just beginning).
I don't want to open a can of worms here, but do I dare open the eggs? Starting from the air sac?

I want to get my bator cleaned and put away because it is starting to smell (likely due to the poop in there from my first chick).

Will you still see veins if the chick died?

Thanks all.

If it were me, I would probably go ahead and open them very carefully. If you find that they are indeed still alive, you should be able to just put them back in the incubator and wrap them in a wet paper towel.
